Water Words

Summer is just around the corner! Pools, sprinklers, and water toys are essential to keeping your kids entertained… and cool. When the weather heats up, use these easy-to-make alphabet sponges to keep young kids and toddlers actively learning all summer long. Plus, they’re the perfect size for little hands! These soft and safe ‘toys’ can be used in the pool or bathtub, and can be customized based on your little one’s favorite subject, animals, foods, etc.

Shop at Dollar Tree – Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Colorful Soft Sponges
  • Permanent Marker

Easy Step-by-Step Directions:

  1. Using a permanent marker, draw or write directly on each sponge and let the ink dry for 5 minutes (see image #1).
  2. To create these alphabet sponges, we decided to write an individual letter on one side, and draw a correlating picture on the opposite side. For example: A, apple; B, butterfly; C, cat; and so on (see image #2).
  3. Toss the sponges in your bathtub or pool, and enjoy watching your little one play! (Note: Small children should be supervised while in water. The sponges are not edible.)
