Cookies in a Jar

Homemade baked goods are among the most thoughtful gifts! These Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies packed in a glass jar are the perfect party favor, teacher gift, or token of appreciation. With just a couple of ingredients needed, you can whip together an entire batch of flawless home-baked cookies in just 15 minutes!  

Shop at Dollar Tree – Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 1½ Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • ½ Teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ½ Teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ Cup Rolled Oats
  • ½ Cup Brown Sugar
  • ½ Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Cup Chocolate Chips
  • 1 Quart Glass Jar With Lid
  • Funnel (or Paper Shaped Into a Cone)
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Mixing Spoon

Easy Step-by-Step Directions:

  1. Before beginning, wash and dry the glass jar.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Using a funnel (or a piece of paper shaped into a funnel), pour the flour mixture into the bottom of the jar.
  4. Using the funnel, layer the oats on top of the flour mixture.
  5. Layer the brown sugar on top of the oats.
  6. Layer the granulated sugar on top of the brown sugar.
  7. Lastly, place the chocolate chips on top of the granulated sugar, and tightly seal the lid on the jar (see image below).
  8. Attach a printed or hand-written label to the jar with a list of the ingredients and the preparation steps. These homemade cookies in a jar are packed and ready to be gifted!

Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies (Jar Label)

You’ll Need:

  • ½ Cup Butter, Softened
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract


  1. Preheat the oven to 350º.
  2. Mix together the butter, egg, and vanilla extract until creamy.
  3. Fold in all jar contents and mix until all ingredients are incorporated.
  4. Roll dough into 1” balls and place 2” apart on a baking sheet.
  5. Bake 9-10 minutes until slightly browned. Let cookies cool completely, and enjoy!
