Gingerbread Cookies

Baking and decorating cookies is a favorite holiday tradition for many families. Make even sweeter memories with your kids by baking a batch of these unforgettable Gingerbread Cookies! Use Dollar Tree’s festive cookie cutters, icing, and large variety of candies to adorn your yummy creations.

  • 3 Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1¼ Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • ¾ Teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ¼ Teaspoon Salt
  • 1  Tablespoon Ground Ginger
  • 1¾ Teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
  • ¼ Teaspoon Ground Cloves
  • 6 Tablespoons Butter, Softened
  • ¾ Cup Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1 Large Egg
  • ½ Cup Molasses
  • 2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Cooling Rack
  • Frosting
  • Food Coloring (Optional)
  • Cookie Cutters

Easy Step-by-Step Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°. Prepare baking sheets by lining with parchment paper or grease with non-stick spray.
  2. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.
  3. In a large mixing bowl beat together the butter, brown sugar, and egg using an electric mixer on medium speed until well blended.
  4. Add molasses and vanilla and mix until well blended.
  5. Gradually stir in dry ingredients until blended and smooth.
  6. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let stand at room temperature for at least 2 hours (see image #1).
  7. Place the dough on a lightly floured surface. Sprinkle more flour on top of the dough and roll it out ¼" thick (see image #2).
  8. Cut out cookies with desired cookie cutter (see image #3).
  9. Bake for 7-9 minutes.
  10. Remove cookie sheet from the oven and allow the cookies to stand on the tray for 5 minutes. Transfer to a cooling rack.
  11. Once completely cooled, decorate with frosting* and candies (see images #4 and #5)!

*Combine Dollar Tree’s food coloring and white vanilla frosting to create colorful touches!
