Homemade Vanilla Marshmallows

There’s nothing better than a cozy cup of hot cocoa topped with marshmallows on a cold winter day. Follow this simple and sweet recipe for Homemade Vanilla Marshmallows, created with just five ingredients. Cut each marshmallow into bite-sized cubes or use cookie cutters to make fun shapes! These fluffy mallows will make you never want to buy a store-bought bag again!

Shop at Dollar Tree – Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 3 Packages Unflavored Gelatin
  • 1½ Cups Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Cup Light Corn Syrup
  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
  • Powdered Sugar for Rolling and Dusting
  • Electric Mixer
  • Sauce Pan
  • 8x12" Glass Baking Dish

Easy Step-by-Step Directions:

  1. Mix the gelatin and ½ cup of ice-cold water in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a whisk attachment (see images #1 and #2). Set the gelatin mixture aside.
  2. Combine the sugar, corn syrup, and ½ cup of water in a saucepan and cook over medium heat, until the sugar dissolves. Raise the heat to high and cook until the mixture boils.
  3. Slowly pour the sugar mixture into the gelatin mixture with the mixer on low speed.
  4. Whip the mixture on high speed for 15 minutes until thick (see image #4). Add and mix in vanilla.
  5. Dust an 8x12" glass baking dish with powdered sugar (see image #3). Pour the marshmallow mixture into the pan and smooth the top (see image #5). Dust with additional powdered sugar (see image #6).
  6. Allow the marshmallow to stand uncovered at room temperature for 8-10 hours, until dry and stiff.
  7. Cut the marshmallows directly from the pan into squares (see images #7 and #9) or using cookie cutters to create fun shapes (see image #8).
  8. Store marshmallows in an airtight container at room temperature. Enjoy this sweet treat as is or add them to a delicious cup of hot cocoa!
