Shop at Dollar Tree – Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Chocolate Cake Mix (plus ingredients listed on package)
  • Cupcake Liners
  • Serrated Knife
  • Cupcake Tin
  • Vanilla Frosting
  • Red Food Coloring
  • Pastry or Zip Seal Bag
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Strainer/Sifter
  • Milk
  • Toothpicks

Easy Step-by-Step Directions:

  1. Line cupcake tin with 24 liners and preheat oven to 350°.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix cake batter according to package.
  3. Fill each cupcake liner ¾ full with batter. Bake for 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Add 2-3 drops of red food coloring to the vanilla icing. Mix until all icing has turned pink (see image #1). Add another drop if you desire a deeper pink color.
  5. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely, and use a serrated knife to cut and remove heart shapes (see images #2 and #3).
  6. Fill a pastry or zip seal bag with icing. Cut a small hole in the corner of the bag.
  7. Pipe the icing into the heart cutouts (see image #4).
  8. Dust the iced cupcakes with powdered sugar.
  9. Mix two drops of food coloring into a glass of milk for a festively pink drink to enjoy with your cupcakes.
